Veneers

A dental veneer is a thin tooth shaped material made from white restorative material. It can either be made from porcelain or from plastic filling material.

A veneer is placed over the front surface of an existing tooth to change the aesthetics, the colour, the look and or the feel of the tooth.

Porcelain veneers are custom made by hand; they are extremely strong, long lasting and stain resistant.

Plastic filling veneers are directly built in the mouth by hand. Being made of plastic they are not as strong as porcelain and will not last as long. They will also pick up stains quicker and will need repolishing yearly.

Please note in most cases, some tooth preparation needs to occur to be able to accept the veneer. This will be discussed by the dentist.
