Invisalign is known as the ‘the clear alternative to braces’. Using 3D computer technology, a series of custom-made removable aligners are designed and produced to fit your teeth perfectly. The aligners are worn for two weeks at a time, each new set moving your teeth in small increments until the desired outcome is achieved. The aligners are made of a comfortable lightweight plastic – no metal brackets or wires.
There are 4 categories of Invisalign for differing case complexities:
- Invisalign Full – includes an unlimited number of aligners
- Invisalign Teen – unlimited aligners and includes some special features for teenagers who may not have all of their adult teeth fully erupted.
- Invisalign Lite – for less severe cases, a maximum of 14 aligners can be used.
- Invisalign i7 – for very simple cases, a maximum of 7 aligners can be used.
Invisalign has proven to be as effective as traditional braces in many cases but is not suitable for everyone. At your consultation we can advise if you are a suitable patient.
